Uses: Tonic and Aphrodisiac drug used against general debility

Parts Used: Roots

Active Ingredients: Saponin

Cultivation: In limited scale, mainly collected from forest areas of Gujarat, Rajasthan & M.P.

Endangered plant. 

Cultural Practices:

¨     Climate:  Warm and humid climatic condition with adequate soil moisture throughout the crop growth.

¨      Propagation: Fleshy roots with  stem disc planted in June (under irrigated) and onset of monsoon for rainfed crop.

¨      Seed rate: Fleshy roots 2.5-3.0 q/ha are planted in ridges at 30x15 cm.

¨      Manures: FYM 10-15 t/ha

¨      Crop duration: 120-150 days

¨      Irrigation: Fortnightly

¨     Yield: 10 q/ha fresh root yield

¨     Post Harvest Management: Skinning and shade drying of  roots for medicinal purpose. Thiram or Captan @ 4g/ kg of roots to reduce the rotting of planting materials under storage.
